Natalie cried.
“He found irregularities in Mom’s trust two years ago.”
Dominic stared.
“Two years?”
“Yes.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“He asked me not to.”
“Why?”
“Because he thought somebody inside the family was stealing.”
Dominic’s expression hardened.
“Who?”
Natalie shook her head.
“He never found out.”
Then she reached into a drawer.
A sealed envelope.
Ethan’s handwriting.
For Dominic, if anything happens to me.
Dominic’s blood went cold.
Ethan had died in a boating accident six months after writing it.
Dominic opened the letter.
Ethan described unauthorized transfers.
Fake vendors.
Suspicious legal authorizations.
And one name.
Elliot Price.
Not Brooke.
Elliot.
The theft began before Brooke entered Dominic’s life.
That changed everything.
Brooke had joined an existing scheme.
She had not created it.
Ethan suspected Elliot was stealing with someone inside Mercer financial management.
Then the final line:
If I’m right, whoever is doing this knows I found them.

“Was Ethan’s death investigated?”
