Chapter 4 - VANESSA HAD BEEN AT THE FUNERAL SHE HELPED CREATE

Photographs.

Vanessa stood behind Dad at Mom’s funeral.

Black dress.

Hand on his shoulder.

She had known Mom alive.

That fact became unbearable.

Dad found old messages.

After funeral:

V: You need to eat.

V: Let me stay with Noah tonight.

V: You cannot keep searching.

She positioned as helper.

Did she intend marry from beginning?

She said no.

Evidence partly supported.

She had known Michael through charity work.

She participated in cover-up because Michael told her Emily had discovered financial crimes that could collapse company and destroy employees.

Vanessa believed some.

Then funeral.

She felt guilty.

Then she and Dad grew close.

Then she chose not to confess because she would lose him and face charges.

Then marriage.

Then lie became life.

She genuinely loved Dad.

Maybe.

Also loved status.

Both.

Then why abuse Noah?

She said later:

“Because he reminded me every day that Emily had not disappeared completely.”

There.

I looked like Mom.

Kept photo.

Asked.

Vanessa wanted household to feel hers.

Tyler at head.

Me kneeling.

Power theater.

Then food.

Investigators/child welfare found pattern.

She made me eat later when guests.

Made me wear older clothes while buying Tyler designer.

Locked Mom’s photos in cabinet.

Called crying “attention.”

No severe beatings.

But sustained emotional abuse and humiliation.

One incident where she grabbed arm hard.

Enough.

Then the shoe-cleaning party.

Why guests laughed?

Nervous social cruelty.

Some thought it was odd game.

One man later apologized:

“I should have stood up.”

Yes.

No need make all villains.

Then Dad watched footage.

He asked me:

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

I had.

Not directly enough? I had said:

“Vanessa likes Tyler more.”

Dad answered:

“She loves you differently.”

I said:

“She makes me do servant things.”

Dad thought chores.

He said:

“Helping around house is good.”

Again translation.

Then one video call:

“Daddy, can I eat with everybody when you come back?”

He thought I meant travel return dinner.

“Of course.”

He never asked why I wasn't already.

That haunted.

Then Dad apologized.

Not:

“I’m sorry she did that.”

Also:

“I’m sorry I kept turning your words into something easier for me.”

Good.

Then Mom heard.

She was angry at him.

“You left him with her.”

“I thought she was safe.”

“You wanted her to be safe.”

Difference.

They fought.

Not instant reunion.

Then Dad said:

“You think I wanted you dead?”

“No.”

“Then what?”

“I think you accepted my death because everyone around you made acceptance easier than questions.”

That hurt.

But he had investigated? In this story initial user does not say he doubted. So maybe he accepted more fully. Let's keep.

Dad had questioned no open casket briefly.

Michael/Vanessa assured.

Police/medical records official.

He mourned.

Not unreasonable.

But later warning signs about Noah he missed.

Responsibility there.

Then Mom’s recorder.

Forensic enhanced.

The full conversation:

Michael:

“We have the car. No one will find her before transfer.”

Aha.

Not necessarily permanent disappearance at that moment.

Vanessa:

“Make sure she does not come back for the boy.”

Michael:

“This was supposed to delay the filing, Vanessa.”

Important.

He sounds surprised.

Then Vanessa:

“If she comes back, Daniel learns everything.”

Michael:

“Keep your voice down.”

So original plan may have been to delay Emily from filing lawsuit about trust transactions, not fake death forever.

Then after crash/medical confusion, opportunity escalated.

Michael chose to exploit.

Vanessa pushed permanent.

Shared.

Then:

M: The death identification is already moving.

V: Then let it.

There.

They decided.

That was conspiracy.

Then who arranged forged dental?

Attorney Victor Hale? Let's introduce not too many. Use Martin Cole, outside estate lawyer.

Michael contacted him.

He facilitated false records.

He believed Catherine? No.

Keep:

Attorney Samuel Grant (not same as Mom's attorney) arranged death declaration using compromised forensic evidence. He knowingly ignored mismatch and later received $250k consulting contract from Michael.

He faced charges.

Then crash sabotage.

A contractor connected to Michael tampered vehicle under instruction to “disable” it? Again not operational. Evidence showed Michael paid security contractor before crash. Contractor pleaded he had been told to stop Emily reaching courthouse, but not injure. The actual crash resulted.

So prosecutors charged conspiracy/reckless endangerment/obstruction rather than attempted murder depending law.

Vanessa knew a “delay” was planned but not mechanical details before crash; after, she joined cover-up.

This is nuanced.

Then child.

May you like

She was fully responsible for abuse.

No Michael excuse.
