“My son is an idiot.”
Arthur laughed.
“How old?”
“Fifteen.”

Preston’s son Lucas attended elite prep school.

“Why didn’t you destroy him?”
Arthur smiled.
“Because that would prove nothing useful.”
“You could have.”
“Yes.”
“Did you want to?”
“Sometimes.”

“What stopped you?”
“Eventually I realized having power doesn’t make every use of it wise.”
Lucas thought.
Then:
“Dad says you made him better.”
“No.”
“What?”
“He did that.”

Arthur refused savior role.
Lucas changed gradually.
Maybe.

But suspension stayed.
He apologized.

Preston later said:
“I finally understand what my dad did wrong with me.”
“What?”
“He removed friction.”
Arthur nodded.
Consequences build boundaries.
Wealth removes consequences if allowed.
That is why rich children need deliberate friction, not performative deprivation.
Arthur had once thought stripping wealth away would fix character.
