Chapter 5 - MARCUS SAID IT WAS “ONLY MONEY THE TRUST COULD AFFORD”

Marcus’s attorney tried to separate abuse from fraud.

He claimed:

He never locked Lucy in room.

True.

He never forced dog bowl personally.

At least evidence not.

He merely “administered billing.”

Then recordings.

He mocked.

Reinforced.

Watched.

Told her stay quiet.

That mattered.

Then fraud.

$102,000.

He said:

“Trust had millions.”

There.

Amount made theft feel small.

I looked at him during mediated financial proceeding.

“So if someone has more, you can take less?”

He said nothing.

Then:

“You billed for therapy my daughter never received.”

“I thought Bianca was doing structured care.”

“You knew she had no license.”

“It was family support.”

“Then why call company?”

Silence.

Then:

“Why $8,500?”

He looked down.

Because trustee would pay.

Then:

“Did you ever think Lucy’s behavior was severe?”

“At first.”

“Based on?”

“Bianca.”

Then after watching laundry footage?

He knew methods.

He still billed.

Then he said something unforgivable:

“She needed discipline.”

I stood.

My lawyer stopped me with look.

Good.

No violence.

I sat.

Then:

“She needed protection from you.”

That was enough.

Legal consequences.

Marcus faced fraud, forgery conspiracy, theft-related charges, child-endangerment/maltreatment complicity depending evidence.

Bianca direct child abuse/endangerment plus fraud.

No absurd life sentence.

Meaningful custodial/probation/restitution.

Professional bans? Bianca no profession. Could be no contact order.

Trust recovered much through restitution/insurance.

Maybe $86k traceable, remainder fees/legal.

Then trust strengthened.

All future child-service payments require licensed provider direct billing.

No caregiver self-invoices.

Parent cannot approve spouse-owned vendor.

Independent child advocate for unusual behavioral services.

Good systems.

Then my company board?

I had used household admin carelessly but no company issue. Maybe Marcus worked at my property company; I fired immediately, independent HR review.

No revenge.

He had used my name in vendor profile? We discovered he claimed "Bellandi family office approved." We issued corrections.

Then Bianca.

She asked:

“Did you ever love me?”

I said:

“Yes.”

That did not help her.

Then:

“Was any of it real?”

“Yes.”

Again.

Love does not erase abuse.

Then divorce.

Immediate filing.

No second chance.

Could Bianca change? Maybe.

But Lucy safety first.

She asked for supervised contact eventually.

May you like

Lucy said no.

That ended.
