Chapter 8 - LUCY GREW UP WITHOUT BECOMING THE GIRL FROM THE DOG-BOWL VIDEO

We never released video publicly.

Police had.

Lawyers.

Court.

No internet.

No viral trauma.

Lucy deserved future without strangers replaying worst breakfast.

At ten, she loved astronomy.

At twelve, hated piano.

At fourteen, dyed hair purple for one week.

At sixteen, asked to see case records.

We said yes with therapist.

She watched only selected footage? Better maybe she chose not.

She read transcript.

Then asked:

“Did she really call me useless?”

“Yes.”

“Was I?”

“No.”

She rolled eyes.

“I know now.”

Good.

Then trust.

At seventeen, independent trustee explained.

She was beneficiary.

Not source of jobs.

She asked:

“Did Marcus steal because I was rich?”

I said:

“He stole because he believed your money was available to him.”

Then:

“That’s different.”

“Exactly.”

Then:

“If trust were empty, Bianca still would have done room?”

“Yes.”

Likely.

Money was secondary.

Then:

“So money didn’t cause.”

“No.”

“It made it easier to justify.”

Yes.

Then at eighteen, she legally changed nothing.

Same name.

No dramatic takeover.

Used trust for college partly.

Studied industrial design? Maybe child safety design? Too on nose. Let's choose architecture.

She became architect.

Loved rooms.

Interesting but not forced trauma career.

Then later designed homes with natural light. Not because laundry room? Could be subtle.

She laughed if anyone made symbolism.

May you like

“I like windows.”

Good.
