Chapter 14 - SAGE WENT BACK TO ASHCOMBE’S BALLROOMFor almost a year, she avoided the ballroom.

Fine.
Nobody forced her.
Then Isabelle’s daughter turned ten.
Small family birthday party.
Same manor.
Different room planned.
Sage asked:
“Can we eat cake in the ballroom?”
Gideon looked surprised.
“Do you want to?”
“Yes.”
So they did.
Twenty people.
No gowns.
No reporters.
Sage wore jeans.
She carried her own orange juice.
Gideon noticed.
She noticed him noticing.
Then deliberately took a huge drink.
“See?”
He laughed.
“I’m traumatized, not you.”
She smiled.
Then spilled a little on the table.
Everyone froze for half a second.
Sage burst out laughing.
The room followed.
Different laughter.
That mattered.
Not at her.
May you like
With her.
The ballroom became a room again.
