Chapter 4 - THE BILLION-DOLLAR INHERITANCE THAT STARTED THE WARThe Walker family vault had existed for almost eighty years.

Nobody outside the family knew about it.

Not the employees.

Not the investors.

Not even most relatives.

It was not simply a room.

It was a symbol.

A place where the Walker family kept everything they believed mattered.

Original company documents.

Private agreements.

Old photographs.

Family secrets.

And according to Noah’s notebook…

the truth.

Ethan arrived before sunrise.

He did not tell Claire.

Not because he did not trust her.

Because he knew she would try to protect him.

And Ethan was tired of being protected from the truth.

He wanted the truth itself.

The vault was hidden beneath the oldest Walker property.

A mansion nobody had lived in for years.

Michael always said it was abandoned.

Another lie.

The security system recognized Ethan immediately.

That surprised him.

The door opened.

Inside was a long hallway.

At the end was a metal room.

A single name was engraved above the entrance.

WALKER FAMILY LEGACY ARCHIVE

Ethan entered.

For several minutes, he saw nothing but documents.

Then he found the first file.

His own name.

ETHAN WALKER — ORIGINAL SUCCESSION RECORD

His hands shook.

He opened it.

The first page was normal.

Birth information.

Inheritance details.

Guardian information.

Then he reached the final page.

And froze.

The original beneficiary was not Ethan.

Not Noah.

Someone else.

A third name.

LUCAS WALKER

Ethan stared.

“Who is Lucas?”

The question followed him through the room.

Then he found another file.

Lucas Walker.

Status:

Deceased.

Date of death:

The same year Ethan was born.

Ethan felt cold.

Three children.

Three identities.

Three secrets.

The Walker family had been hiding something much bigger.

The next document revealed the truth.

Lucas was Charles Walker’s first grandson.

The original heir.

But he died as a baby.

Or at least…

that was the official story.

Ethan found medical records.

Hospital reports.

Private investigations.

Then one sentence changed everything:

Child’s identity transferred under emergency protection.

Ethan read it again.

Transferred.

Not buried.

Not dead.

Transferred.

Someone had moved a child’s identity.

Just like they tried to do with Ethan.

Then Ethan found a letter.

Written by his grandfather.

The handwriting was old.

But the message was clear.

Michael cannot inherit control.

Ethan stopped.

The letter continued.

He sees children as tools. He sees family as ownership.

Another line:

If anything happens to Ethan, Noah, or Lucas, the inheritance must remain protected.

Ethan’s heart started racing.

Lucas.

Noah.

Ethan.

Three sons.

Three heirs.

Michael had spent years making them disappear.

Suddenly, the lights went out.

Ethan froze.

Someone was inside.

Footsteps.

Slow.

Controlled.

“Looking for answers?”

Ethan turned.

A man stood in the doorway.

Older.

Scar across his face.

But familiar.

Ethan recognized him immediately.

The same eyes.

The same expression.

The same face from the photographs.

“Noah?”

The man stared at him.

“Yes.”

Ethan could not speak.

Because the boy from the photograph was standing alive in front of him.

Noah Walker.

His brother.

Noah looked at him.

“You look exactly like me.”

Ethan swallowed.

“You too.”

For a moment, neither spoke.

Two brothers.

Both victims.

Both manipulated.

Finally Noah said:

“Your father wanted us to hate each other.”

“Why?”

“Because brothers who fight don’t look at the person controlling them.”

Ethan looked at him.

“You knew about me?”

Noah nodded.

“For years.”

“Why didn’t you come?”

Noah looked away.

“Because Michael convinced me you were the reason my life was destroyed.”

Ethan felt anger.

“But you found out?”

“Yes.”

“When?”

Noah’s expression darkened.

“When I learned Michael was planning your funeral before you were even dead.”

Silence.

Ethan felt sick.

“He planned this?”

Noah nodded.

“He planned everything.”

Then Noah revealed the final secret.

Michael was not trying to steal Ethan’s inheritance.

He was trying to collect all three.

Because the Walker family trust had one hidden clause.

If all original heirs disappeared…

control would transfer to the family administrator.

Michael.

The man who controlled the documents.

The man who controlled the lawyers.

The man who controlled the story.

Ethan finally understood.

The deaths.

The replacements.

The lies.

Everything.

Michael did not want money.

He wanted absolute control.

Before Ethan could respond, Noah’s phone rang.

His face changed.

“What happened?”

A voice came through.

Then Noah looked at Ethan.

“Your mother was taken.”

Ethan froze.

“What?”

“Michael escaped custody.”

The call ended.

Ethan immediately turned.

They had been distracted.

Exactly as Michael wanted.

Because Michael never fought fair.

He created chaos.

Then disappeared inside it.

Ethan looked at Noah.

“Where is he?”

Noah looked toward the exit.

“The place where all this started.”

“Where?”

May you like

Noah answered:

“The Walker family mansion.”
