Chapter 4 - LAUREN BROKE FIRSTLauren confessed faster than Victoria.

Not from conscience.

Fear.

She had debt.

A lot.

Her lifestyle looked perfect.

Large house.

Country club.

Designer vacations.

Underneath?

$4.7 million in loans.

A failed luxury rental investment.

Personal guarantees.

Tax obligations.

She believed Mom was going to reduce her discretionary trust distributions.

She was right.

Mom had discovered Lauren repeatedly using trust advances to cover private debt.

So Lauren went to Gerald.

He told her:

“There may be another way.”

Remove me as co-trustee.

Have Mom declared financially incapable.

Install a “temporary independent fiduciary.”

Gerald.

Then restructure discretionary distributions.

Lauren would receive liquidity.

Victoria would gain indirect access through marital planning.

Everyone wins.

Except Mom.

Except me.

Except the trust.
