Chapter 13 - The Letter That Changed My Understanding Of LoveMonths later, I received one final letter.

It came from Daniel.
I almost threw it away.
But I opened it.
He didn't ask for forgiveness.
He didn't ask me to come back.
He simply wrote:
“I spent years believing love meant possessing someone.”
“I thought if I controlled enough things, I would never feel powerless.”
“I was wrong.”
Then he wrote something that surprised me.
“You were strongest when you had nothing.”
I stopped reading for a moment.
Then continued.
“I saw your wheelchair and thought you had become weaker.”
“But the truth is…”
“I had become weaker.”
I folded the letter.
I didn't forgive him.
Not completely.
Maybe someday.
Maybe never.
And I realized that was okay.
Forgiveness isn't something you owe someone.
Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is stop carrying them.
So I burned the letter.
May you like
Not because I hated him.
Because I no longer needed his words.
