Chapter 9: The Name Written in Blood
The cemetery became a line drawn in the rain.
On one side stood Bear, Elias, Caleb, Marcus, and Walter.
On the other stood Vincent and the old club members.
People who once shared the same table.
People who once called each other brothers.
Now separated by a grave.
And a secret.
Bear held the folder against his chest.
“Bear: I’m going to ask once.””
Vincent waited.
“Bear: Who sent you?””
Vincent looked tired.
Not angry.
Not afraid.
Tired.
“Vincent: You don’t understand what you’re holding.””
Bear looked at the documents.
“Bear: Looks like proof.””
Vincent shook his head.
“No.””
He pointed at the folder.
“Vincent: It’s a death sentence.””
Walter stepped back.
“Walter: Bear…”
Bear looked at him.
“Bear: What?””
Walter’s voice was barely a whisper.
“Walter: Your father’s records weren’t just about the club.””
Bear frowned.
“Bear: Then what?””
Walter looked at Caleb.
Caleb answered.
“Caleb: They were about the people behind it.””
Vincent’s expression changed.
Just slightly.
But Bear saw it.
“Bear: You’re scared.””
Vincent looked away.
“Vincent: You have no idea.””
Bear stepped closer.
“Bear: Twenty years ago, I lost everything because people were scared.””
He pointed at Vincent.
“Bear: I’m done living by someone else’s fear.””
Vincent looked at Elias.
“Vincent: He told you everything?””
Elias shook his head.
“No.””
Vincent almost smiled.
“Vincent: Of course not.””
Bear noticed.
“Bear: What does that mean?””
Vincent looked at Elias.
“Vincent: Ask him about the night you lost your brother.””
Bear turned slowly.
“Bear: Elias.””
Elias stayed silent.
The silence was painful.
Bear’s voice dropped.
“Bear: Tell me.””
Elias looked down.
“I wasn’t there for the whole night.””
Bear stared.
“What?””
Elias swallowed.
“I arrived after it happened.””
The confession hit.
Bear stepped back.
“Bear: Then how do you know what happened?””
Elias looked at the grave.
“Elias: Because I saw who did it.””
Nobody moved.
Bear’s eyes narrowed.
“Bear: Who?””
Elias looked at Caleb.
Then Marcus.
Then Vincent.
Finally, he looked at Bear.
“Elias: Someone who had your father’s trust.””
Bear’s anger rose.
“Bear: Stop speaking in riddles.””
Elias closed his eyes.
“Elias: Your father didn’t die because of the club.””
Bear froze.
“Bear: What?””
Elias continued.
“He died because he discovered someone inside the family was working against him.””
Bear looked at Caleb.
The third brother.
Then at himself.
Then at Elias.
“Bear: You’re saying…”
Elias nodded.
“Elias: The betrayal started before we were even old enough to understand it.””
A sudden movement came from behind Vincent’s group.
One of the bikers stepped forward.
An older man.
His face hidden under a hood.
He spoke quietly.
“Man: Enough.””
Everyone turned.
Vincent immediately lowered his head.
Bear noticed.
Whoever this was…
Vincent answered to him.
The man walked into the rain.
Slowly.
He removed the hood.
Bear’s blood went cold.
Because he recognized the face.
Not from a photograph.
Not from a memory.
From the cemetery.
From the grave.
The man standing there was the same man whose name was carved into the stone.
The man Bear had spent twenty years believing was dead.
His brother.
But older.
Alive.
And smiling.
Bear couldn’t breathe.
“Bear: No…”
Elias stepped back.
Caleb went completely still.
Walter covered his mouth.
The man looked at Bear.
“Man: You finally came to visit me.””
Bear stared.
The impossible truth stood in front of him.
The grave.
The badge.
The betrayal.
All of it.
The man walked closer.
“Man: I’ve been waiting a long time, brother.””
Bear’s hand tightened around the cracked badge.
Then the man looked at Elias.
His smile disappeared.
“Man: But I didn’t expect you to bring the traitor with you.””
Elias’s face changed.
Because he knew something Bear didn’t.
And before Bear could ask…
his brother said the words that changed everything.
“Your friend Elias wasn’t the one who disappeared twenty years ago.””
May you like
He looked directly at Bear.
“He was the one who helped me disappear.””
