Chapter 6 - The Sister Who Was Erased From HistoryThe woman standing in front of me looked like a stranger.

But somehow…
She felt familiar.
Her eyes.
Her expression.
The way she held the photograph.
It was like looking at a missing piece of myself.
“I’m Lily.”
Her voice shook.
“I think I’m your sister.”
For a moment, I forgot about everything else.
The hotel.
Richard.
Victoria.
The missing documents.
All of it disappeared.
Because my entire life…
I thought I was alone.
And suddenly…
I wasn’t.
We moved into my grandfather’s private office.
The same room where I had discovered the truth about the Grand Regent.
Lily sat across from me.
She looked nervous.
“I didn’t know if I should come.”
I frowned.
“Why?”
She looked down.
“Because everyone told me the Carter family didn’t want me.”
My heart hurt.
“Who told you that?”
She hesitated.
“Richard Hayes.”
The room went silent.
Thomas immediately looked up.
“Of course.”
I looked at him.
“You knew?”
Thomas shook his head.
“Not about Lily.”
A pause.
“But I knew Richard was capable of destroying anyone who threatened him.”
Lily explained everything.
She grew up believing she was abandoned.
Her entire childhood was built around one painful idea:
Her mother didn’t want her.
But years later…
She found documents.
Old records.
Letters.
Proof that someone had changed everything.
Someone had erased her.
And the person who helped hide those records…
Was Richard Hayes.
“He came to my family when I was young.”
Lily said.
“He told them the Carter family wanted nothing to do with me.”
I closed my eyes.
Another lie.
Another stolen life.
Then Lily placed something on the desk.
A small silver necklace.
My breath stopped.
Because I recognized it.
My mother had the matching one.
“She gave this to me?”
Lily nodded.
“Before I was taken away.”
I touched it carefully.
“My mother gave me the other half.”
For the first time…
We both cried.
Not because we were sad.
Because we finally understood.
We were not abandoned.
We were stolen.
That night, Lily and I talked for hours.
We talked about our mother.
About the life we missed.
About the years we could never get back.
“I used to hate her.”
Lily whispered.
I looked at her.
“Why?”
“Because I thought she chose to leave.”
I swallowed.
“I thought I was the only child she loved.”
She looked at me.
“Now I know she lost both of us.”
That sentence stayed with me.
Because our mother had spent her entire life carrying pain that wasn’t hers.
The next morning, Richard made his move.
A press conference.
He stood outside the Grand Regent Hotel.
Cameras surrounded him.
“My family has discovered serious concerns regarding the current ownership.”
I watched the broadcast.
He was smiling.
Calm.
Confident.
Like he had already won.
“My wife and I believe the hotel was transferred illegally.”
Thomas looked angry.
“He’s trying to take control publicly.”
Richard continued:
“The current owner is inexperienced and has no understanding of this business.”
Then he said the sentence meant to destroy me.
“Mia Carter was never prepared to inherit anything.”
I stared at the screen.
Years ago…
Those words would have hurt.
But not anymore.
Because I finally knew who I was.
I walked into the press conference.
The cameras turned.
The crowd became silent.
Richard’s smile disappeared slightly.
“Mia.”
I looked at him.
“You wanted to talk about ownership?”
He forced a smile.
“Yes.”
I held up a folder.
“Then let’s talk about ownership.”
The reporters moved closer.
Inside the folder were copies of the original documents.
The ones Richard thought were gone.
His expression changed.
“How did you get those?”
I smiled.
“My grandfather was smarter than you.”
Then Lily stepped forward.
The cameras turned again.
Richard froze.
“No.”
She looked at him.
“Hello, Richard.”
The entire crowd became confused.
Richard’s face lost color.
“You shouldn’t be here.”
Lily smiled sadly.
“That’s what you told me my entire life.”
A reporter asked:
“Who is she?”
I answered:
“My sister.”
The crowd exploded.
Richard tried to leave.
But security blocked him.
Because Thomas had one more surprise.
A file.
A very old file.
“The Carter family has been investigating Richard Hayes for years.”
Richard stared.
“You knew?”
Thomas nodded.
“We knew you were dangerous.”
The file contained everything.
Fake contracts.
Hidden accounts.
Illegal transfers.
And one final document.
A payment record.
Richard had paid Victoria Hayes.
The woman who accused me of stealing the bracelet.
May you like
She wasn’t just a rude guest.
She was part of his plan.
