Chapter 12 - EMILY DID NOT WANT THE HOUSEWhen the new will became public to the family, everyone assumed Emily would take Mom’s house eventually.

Emily didn’t want it.
“This is your home.”
Mom replied:
“After me.”
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because Luke loves this house.”
I laughed.
“I do?”
“You kept the old treehouse.”
“That proves nothing.”
She smiled.
Then Mom said:
“The will can change again.”
That terrified everyone for a second.
She laughed.
“Relax.”
Eventually, the house was placed into a family-use trust.
Not one person’s property.
Emily kept the right to live there.
So did I during designated periods.
Future grandchildren could use it.
No sale without independent approval.
Mom liked that.
May you like
“The house should not become another weapon.”
Agreed.
