Chapter 7 - THOMAS TURNED ON DAVIDThe brothers’ alliance collapsed within weeks.

Thomas learned David had known about Emily for seven years.

He was furious.

“You let me build everything around a three-son estate structure.”

David answered:

“You would’ve panicked.”

“I’m panicking now.”

Then Thomas discovered something worse.

David had structured the forced-transfer documents so company shares moved disproportionately to him.

Not equally.

David would receive sixty-five percent of the voting authority.

Thomas thirty-five.

So even while conspiring together, David planned to dominate him.

Thomas immediately started cooperating with investigators.

Not noble.

Self-preservation.

But useful.

He handed over messages.

Draft documents.

Bank records.

And one recording he secretly made of David.

David saying:

“Once Mom signs, Luke won’t challenge us. He hates the company.”

Then:

“And Emily can scream from Minnesota all she wants.”

Thomas asked:

“What if Mom tells Luke?”

David laughed.

“Luke always leaves.”

I listened to that sentence twice.

Because he was right about one thing.

I did always leave.

Work.

Duty.

Distance.

I had made myself predictable.

David built part of his plan around it.

That was painful.

But it also gave me something clear to change.
