Sophie’s financial education would begin gradually later.
Her disability-related trust would remain separate from general wealth.
And, most importantly, Sophie would eventually have supported decision-making rather than adults assuming physical disability meant intellectual incapacity.
Emily had worried about that.
So did I.
Sophie was bright.
Opinionated.
Funny.
She needed assistance moving.
Not people deciding who she was.
That distinction became central to every plan.
Rebecca said:
“Emily would like this.”
I smiled.
“She’d have twelve objections.”
“Also true.”
We laughed.
Grief had changed.
