Six hundred thousand dollars a year.
And the trust was projected to grow.
Now his motivation was clear.
He had been helping Claire turn my daughter into a client.
A six-year-old client.
He drafted notes suggesting Rebecca was “financially unsophisticated.”
He proposed moving assets into products sold by his firm.
He recommended a “family governance restructuring.”
Translation:
Put people he could influence closer to the money.
The Calder trustees responded aggressively.
Accounts were frozen against any household-requested changes.
Victor’s firm received legal notices.
Regulators began reviewing his conduct.
Claire realized then that Victor had never been protecting her.
He had been using her insecurity.
She provided investigators with all their messages.
That cooperation mattered.
