Chapter 12 - The Family LegacyAfter everything happened, I almost sold the company.

I wanted a simple life.

Away from power.

Away from people who wanted what we had.

But my father stopped me.

“Ryan.”

I looked at him.

“You’re thinking about running.”

I didn’t deny it.

“I’m tired.”

He nodded.

“I understand.”

Then he handed me something.

An old box.

“What is this?”

“Your grandfather’s.”

Inside was a letter.

The letter said:

“Money attracts people.”

“Some will love you.”

“Some will use you.”

“But never confuse wealth with value.”

I continued reading.

“Your greatest responsibility is not protecting what you own.”

“It is protecting who you love.”

I realized something.

The company was never the problem.

People were.

And running away wouldn’t fix that.

Changing how we used our power would.

I created a foundation.

A program to help families.

Children.

People who had no voice.

The same people Vanessa once looked down on.

Years later, Caleb asked me:

“Why do we help strangers?”

May you like

I smiled.

“Because someone should have helped us.”
