Lily created a memory box.

A counselor helped her with bereavement.
All based on a lie.
When the school learned Emily was alive, administrators were horrified.
Ryan had not only lied privately.
He created an institutional falsehood around his daughter.
Why?
Because consistent surroundings kept the lie stable.
If one teacher said:
“Your mom is recovering,”
everything would collapse.
So Ryan instructed everyone.
That was deliberate.
He eventually admitted:
“At some point I stopped protecting Lily from uncertainty and started protecting myself from being exposed.”
That was the sentence his therapist later made him repeat in different forms for months.
