Chapter 6 - The Man Hidden For Thirty YearsFinding Daniel’s father became the only thing that mattered.

For years, everyone believed he was gone.
But Victor gave us one clue.
A location.
A small town near the mountains.
A place where a man named Richard Carter had lived quietly for decades.
Daniel stared at the address.
“My father is alive?”
Nobody knew.
But hope was dangerous.
Because hope was exactly what Evelyn had stolen from everyone.
The next morning, Daniel and I drove there.
Margaret came with us.
She deserved this moment too.
The house was small.
Old.
Nothing like the life Richard once had.
Daniel stood at the door.
His hand shook.
Again.
The same fear.
The fear of losing someone before he even found them.
He knocked.
The door opened.
An older man stood there.
Gray hair.
Tired eyes.
He looked at Daniel.
And froze.
“Daniel?”
My husband stopped breathing.
“Dad?”
The man covered his mouth.
For a moment, nobody moved.
Then Richard pulled him into his arms.
And Daniel finally broke.
Thirty years of pain.
Thirty years of questions.
Thirty years of believing he wasn’t wanted.
All disappeared in that one moment.
“I thought you left me.”
Richard closed his eyes.
“I tried to come back.”
“Why didn’t you?”
Richard looked at Margaret.
Then at the ground.
“Because Evelyn made sure I couldn’t.”
Inside the house, Richard explained everything.
After discovering Evelyn’s crimes, he planned to expose her.
But she found out.
“She threatened my family.”
Daniel listened carefully.
“She told me if I spoke, she would accuse me of crimes I didn’t commit.”
Richard looked ashamed.
“I lost everything.”
Daniel shook his head.
“You lost me.”
Richard’s eyes filled with tears.
“I know.”
The room became quiet.
Then Richard revealed something shocking.
“I left evidence.”
Daniel looked up.
“What?”
“Proof of everything Evelyn did.”
“Where?”
Richard pointed toward an old wooden cabinet.
“Inside.”
Daniel opened it.
There was a hidden compartment.
Inside was a small recorder.
And a folder.
The folder contained the final piece.
The reason Evelyn destroyed everyone.
A document showing that Evelyn had planned to take over the Carter fortune.
Not just Daniel’s company.
Everything.
Including his inheritance.
His identity.
His family.
That night, we returned home.
Daniel placed all the evidence on the table.
For the first time…
The entire truth was together.
Evelyn.
Anna.
Victor.
The stolen money.
The fake documents.
The lies.
But then Daniel noticed something.
A small note inside Richard’s folder.
He opened it.
His face changed.
“What?”
He handed it to me.
The note said:
“If you found this, it means Evelyn failed.”
Below it was one more sentence.
“She was never working alone.”
Daniel looked at me.
“What does that mean?”
Before anyone answered…
The security alarm suddenly activated.
Everyone froze.
Someone had entered the mansion.
Daniel grabbed my hand.
“Stay behind me.”
The hallway lights turned on one by one.
A shadow appeared.
A woman stepped into the room.
And when she removed her coat…
Everyone stopped.
Because she was someone we thought had disappeared forever.
Someone connected to Evelyn.
Someone who knew every secret.
She smiled.
“Hello, Daniel.”
May you like
A pause.
“I think it’s time you learned who your mother really was.”
