Emma almost smiled.
“What does that mean?”
“You gave dates. Names. Screenshots. Witnesses.”
Then:
“And one of the students you included had a parent who contacted the district directly.”
That triggered review.
Rachel requested the school file.
Found the parent acknowledgment.
Then saw Laura Bennett’s name.
She checked the emergency records.
Deceased.
That was when the district realized something was badly wrong.
The cafeteria confrontation happened on the exact morning Rachel came to conduct interviews.
