Chapter 6 - THE PRINCIPAL WASN’T THE ONE FORGING DOCUMENTSPrincipal Collins eventually admitted he knew complaints were being softened.

He denied forging signatures.

Forensic review supported that.

The digital forms were uploaded under the credentials of Assistant Principal Karen Miller.

She had overseen student discipline for eight years.

Students feared her.

Parents praised her professionalism.

Karen immediately denied wrongdoing.

Then system logs showed she had opened Laura Bennett’s archived registration documents.

Multiple times.

Why?

Her explanation:

“Verification.”

Verification of a dead parent’s handwriting?

No.

Then investigators found text messages between Karen and Richard Harper.

RICHARD: We cannot have another suspension before recruiting season.

KAREN: I can close it as parent-resolved.

RICHARD: Good.

Another:

KAREN: Bennett keeps documenting everything.**

Richard:

Then stop giving her material.

Karen:

Olivia needs to be smarter.

Not kinder.

Smarter.

Emma read that line later.

It stayed with her.
