Chapter 11 - THE WOMAN WHO USED BLOODLINE AS A WEAPON DIDN’T HAVE THE BLOODLINE SHE THOUGHTMargaret had built her identity around purity.

Harrington blood.

Harrington heirs.

Real family.

Yet her own biological son, Gabriel, was not biologically a Harrington through Richard.

Ethan was.

The son she sometimes treated as evidence of betrayal actually carried the Harrington bloodline.

Her biological son did not.

The irony was devastating.

But Ethan refused to use it against Gabriel.

That mattered.

When one cousin said:

“So Gabriel isn’t really one of us.”

Ethan turned.

“Stop.”

The room went quiet.

“He just spent thirty-seven years believing a lie we benefited from.”

The cousin looked embarrassed.

Ethan continued:

“We are not doing to him what Mom did to Lily.”

That sentence changed the family conversation.

Because the lesson could not be:

Haha, Margaret chose the wrong outsider.

That would preserve the hierarchy.

The lesson had to be:

No one should have been treated as disposable because of DNA in the first place.
