Chapter 3 - MARGARET HAD ALWAYS HATED UNCERTAINTYThe second DNA test confirmed the first.

Ethan was Lily’s biological father.

Margaret was not Ethan’s biological mother.

There was virtually no possibility of a parent-child relationship.

The family exploded.

Amelia called it impossible.

Grant accused the lab of fraud.

Margaret refused to answer questions.

Then Ethan asked the obvious one.

“Who gave birth to me?”

Margaret said:

“I did.”

The DNA said otherwise.

So either she was lying now.

Or something unimaginable had happened at birth.

Ethan’s birth certificate listed:

Mother: Margaret Elaine Harrington.

Father: Richard William Harrington.

Born at St. Agnes Medical Center.

October 8, 1988.

We requested hospital archives.

Margaret tried to stop us.

That was when suspicion became certainty.

“You don’t need to destroy the family over a laboratory anomaly.”

Ethan stared at her.

“You chained my daughter outside because of that laboratory anomaly.”

She looked away.

He continued:

“You wanted DNA to define who belonged.”

May you like

Silence.

“So now we’re going to follow the DNA wherever it goes.”
