Chapter 11 - FAMILY COURT DID NOT GIVE ME EVERYTHING I WANTEDI wanted sole custody immediately.

No contact.

No uncertainty.

The court did something more careful.

Temporary primary placement with me.

Supervised visits for Melissa.

Parenting evaluation.

Individual therapy.

No relocation.

No contact between Lucy and Dr. Vale.

No coaching.

No discussion of litigation with the child.

It felt too slow.

Then I understood.

Family courts deal with permanent relationships.

Melissa was still Lucy’s mother.

That mattered.

The goal was not to punish her through Lucy.

The goal was safety.

If Melissa became safe, contact could grow.

If not, it wouldn’t.

That distinction helped me stop thinking in terms of winning.
