The police became involved because of potential child abuse and evidence fabrication.
Family court entered immediately after.
Then we discovered another connection.
Dr. Aaron Vale had known Melissa before Lucy became his patient.
How?
College.
They were not close friends.
But they shared mutual acquaintances.
More importantly, Vale had done expert consulting for Melissa’s divorce attorney.
That attorney had prepared documents months before I knew Melissa was considering divorce.
Emergency custody.
Protective order.
Relocation request.
Supervised visitation for me.
They were building a case before there was a case.
And Vale was creating clinical language to support it.
Notes described Lucy as:
“hypervigilant around paternal anger.”
Except security footage showed Lucy running into my arms happily on the same dates.
Another note:
“Child reports father physically intimidates mother.”
Lucy had been coached to say exactly that.
Another:
“Mother appears protective but fearful.”
Melissa had performed fear in sessions.
