Chapter 14: The Second Page

Nobody moved.

Jordan felt like the floor had disappeared beneath him.

“My identity?””

Daniel nodded.

“Yes.””

Marcus immediately stepped forward.

“What does that mean?””

Daniel looked at him.

“Your wife discovered Raymond had been moving assets through fake ownership documents.””

Marcus frowned.

“Fake ownership?””

Daniel nodded.

“He created false records. He used names, signatures, and family connections.””

Vanessa looked down.

“And Jordan?””

Daniel looked at him.

“Jordan was the final piece.””

Jordan shook his head.

“I don’t understand.””

Daniel walked toward the desk.

“Your mother discovered Raymond had created a plan to transfer control of the family trust.””

Marcus looked confused.

“But Jordan was a child.””

“Exactly.””

Daniel opened an old folder.

“Children are easier to manipulate legally.””

Jordan felt sick.

“He wanted my name?””

Daniel nodded.

“He wanted to use your identity as the future owner.””

Nia stepped closer.

“So the house wasn’t the goal.””

“No.””

Daniel looked at the letter.

“The house was the doorway.””

Marcus looked furious.

“My wife knew?””

“Yes.””

“Why didn’t she tell me?””

Daniel looked at him.

“Because Raymond had access to everything.””

Marcus stopped.

“Everything?””

“Phone records. Emails. Financial accounts.””

Daniel looked at Vanessa.

“And people.””

Vanessa looked away.

Marcus understood.

“You’re saying someone close to us was helping him.””

Daniel nodded.

Jordan looked around.

Everyone had secrets.

Everyone had reasons.

But his mother had been fighting alone.

“How did she die?””

The question came out before Jordan could stop it.

The room went silent.

Marcus looked at him.

Daniel looked down.

Then answered.

“She was investigating the second page.””

Jordan’s heart pounded.

“And?””

Daniel took a breath.

“She found it.””

Everyone froze.

“Where?””

Daniel looked at the floor.

“Under the house.””

Marcus stared.

“But Raymond took the deed.””

“He took the wrong thing.””

Daniel reached into his jacket.

He pulled out a small plastic sleeve.

Inside was a single page.

Old.

Folded.

The second page.

Jordan stared.

“Where did you get that?””

“Your mother gave it to me before she died.””

Marcus looked shocked.

“She knew?””

Daniel nodded.

“She knew she might not survive.””

Jordan felt tears forming.

His mother had known.

She had prepared everyone.

Except herself.

Daniel handed the page to Marcus.

“Read it.””

Marcus unfolded it.

His eyes moved quickly.

Then stopped.

“What?””

Nia asked.

Marcus couldn’t answer.

Jordan took the page.

The words were clear.

A legal transfer agreement.

But at the bottom was something unexpected.

A witness signature.

Marcus looked at Vanessa.

“Why is your name here?””

Vanessa looked away.

“I told you.””

Marcus’s voice hardened.

“No.””

He pointed.

“This isn’t your signature from the deed.””

Vanessa looked confused.

“What?””

Marcus compared them.

“This signature is from the original agreement.””

Daniel nodded.

“She didn’t sign the fraud.””

Jordan looked at Vanessa.

“What?””

Daniel continued.

“Raymond copied her signature later.””

Vanessa stared.

“I didn’t know.””

For the first time, Jordan believed her.

She had done wrong.

But maybe she wasn’t the monster he thought.

Marcus looked at the page again.

Then his face changed.

“What?””

Daniel looked at him.

“What is it?””

Marcus pointed to a final line.

A handwritten note.

His wife’s handwriting.

Jordan read it.

“If Raymond ever claims this house, the real owner must be revealed.””

Nia frowned.

“Real owner?””

Marcus looked confused.

“Who owns the house?””

Daniel was silent.

Jordan noticed.

“Daniel.””

The man looked at him.

“You know.””

A long pause.

Then Daniel said:

“Yes.””

“Who?””

Daniel looked directly at Jordan.

“Your mother transferred ownership before she died.””

Jordan shook his head.

“To who?””

Daniel answered quietly.

“To the person she trusted most.””

Marcus looked around.

“Who?””

Daniel didn’t look at Marcus.

He looked at Jordan.

“Her son.””

Jordan froze.

“No.””

Daniel nodded.

“The house is legally yours.””

The room went silent.

Marcus sat down.

Nia covered her mouth.

Vanessa whispered:

“She did it.””

Jordan stared at the page.

His mother had not hidden the house from him.

She had protected it for him.

Then Daniel’s phone suddenly rang.

He answered.

His expression changed.

“What?””

Everyone looked at him.

Daniel listened.

Then whispered:

“He found the second page.””

Marcus stood.

“Raymond?””

Daniel nodded.

And then came the sentence that changed everything.

“He’s not coming for the house anymore.””

Jordan felt cold.

“What is he coming for?””

May you like

Daniel looked at him.

“You.””
