Chapter 5: The Person Behind Bianca’s Secret
The video played.
Nobody breathed.
On the screen, Bianca stood inside her private office.
The same office she always kept locked.
The same office she claimed contained “business documents.””
But she wasn’t alone.
A man stood across from her.
Someone I recognized immediately.
My hands tightened into fists.
“Daniel.””
The name escaped my mouth.
Amelia looked at me.
“You know him?””
I couldn’t answer.
Because Daniel was my former business partner.
My closest friend.
The man who had stood beside me when I built my company from nothing.
The man who hugged me at Amelia’s memorial ceremony and told me he would “always help me raise Eli.””
The man I trusted.
The video continued.
Bianca looked furious.
“You promised me this would never happen.””
Daniel crossed his arms.
“You’re the one who lost control.””
My heart sank.
Lost control?
Over what?
Bianca stepped closer to him.
“Victor saw the footage.””
Daniel’s expression changed.
“What?””
“He saw everything.””
Daniel ran a hand over his face.
“That wasn’t supposed to happen.””
I felt something inside me go cold.
Grace whispered:
“Sir…”
I raised my hand.
I needed to hear.
Daniel looked toward the office door in the recording.
“Does Amelia know?””
Bianca shook her head.
“She knows enough.””
Daniel laughed quietly.
“That woman always knew too much.””
Amelia covered her mouth.
Her eyes filled with pain.
I looked at her.
“You knew him?””
She nodded slowly.
“Yes.””
“How?””
She didn’t answer immediately.
Then she said:
“He was the reason I disappeared.””
The words hit harder than I expected.
I turned back to the screen.
The recording showed Daniel leaning toward Bianca.
“You should have kept the boy away from the cameras.””
Bianca’s face changed.
“Don’t talk about Eli.””
“Why? He’s the reason this is falling apart.””
My blood boiled.
I stepped toward the monitor.
Nobody talked about my son like that.
Nobody.
Then Daniel said something worse.
“After all these years, you still can’t control one child.””
Bianca looked furious.
“I protected that family.””
“No,” Daniel replied.
“You protected yourself.””
The recording stopped.
The room exploded into movement.
Bianca rushed toward the monitor.
“No!””
I stepped between her and the screen.
“Don’t.””
Her eyes met mine.
For a moment, I saw something I had never seen before.
Shame.
“Victor, please.””
“Please what?””
My voice shook.
“Please forgive you?””
She looked away.
“I never wanted Eli hurt.””
“But he was.””
The words were quiet.
That made them worse.
Eli was standing behind Grace now, holding her hand.
He was watching me.
Watching all of us.
And I realized something that broke my heart.
My son wasn’t just scared of Bianca.
He was scared of our secrets.
Amelia walked toward him.
“Eli.””
He looked at her.
She stopped.
Like she was afraid she didn’t deserve to get closer.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered.
Eli didn’t answer.
Six years was a long time for a child.
Even if he had waited for her.
Even if he loved her.
The missing years were still real.
I watched them both.
Then my phone buzzed.
Another notification.
This time from the security system.
A new file.
No title.
Just a time.
*11:42 PM — Six Years Ago.*
I opened it.
The footage showed the outside driveway.
Rain poured down.
A car stopped near the gate.
A woman stepped out.
Amelia.
But she wasn’t alone.
Someone followed her.
Someone holding a folder.
Someone she looked terrified of.
Grace stepped closer to the phone.
“Sir…”
I zoomed in.
The person turned slightly toward the camera.
My entire body went still.
Because I recognized the face.
It was someone I had seen in my own home.
Someone who had comforted me after Amelia vanished.
Someone who had cried beside me.
The person in the video was Bianca.
But the timestamp was from before I met her.
Before she became my wife.
Before she entered my life.
Amelia looked at the screen.
Then she whispered:
“Victor…”
I looked at her.
“What?””
Her voice trembled.
“That’s the night I met Bianca.””
The screen froze.
And for the first time, I understood the truth.

Bianca wasn’t just connected to Amelia’s disappearance.
She had been there from the beginning.
