Chapter 26 - THE LETTER ELAINE NEVER KNEW ABOUTThere was one final secret.

Samuel told us only after Emma turned thirteen.

Richard had created a separate restoration fund before his death.

Not for Emma.

Not for Lucas.

For descendants of workers from Joseph Bell’s original warehouse operation.

Education grants.

Small-business support.

Historical preservation.

Elaine never knew.

Richard deliberately kept it outside family control.

Why?

Because he feared she would call it “giving away the inheritance.”

The fund had grown quietly.

It was already helping dozens of families.

Emma listened.

Then said:

“That sounds more useful than a giant house.”

I looked around the giant house.

May you like

“Careful.”

She laughed.
